Questions
Is the score a safety rating?
No. It reflects how ingredients are treated by published regulation in the EU, Canada and the US for that product type. It isn’t a safety certification or medical advice.
Why can the same ingredient rate differently?
Because the rules differ by product type. An ingredient that’s fine in a rinse-off shampoo can be restricted in food, so we rate it against the regulation for that kind of product.
How is this different from other scanner apps?
Every tier is tied to a published rule in the EU, Canada or the US, and we cite it. We don’t take money from brands, and every change to the method is logged in the changelog.
Do I need an account?
Not to scan on the website. In the app, an account keeps your history, lists and household profiles.
What do household profiles store?
A name, a colour and what to flag for each person: allergies, diets, ingredient groups, regions, life stage and goals. They’re only used to flag ingredients for you, and you can delete a person any time.
A score looks wrong. What do I do?
Tap “Report a problem” on the result and tell us what’s off, with a source if you have one. Corrections are logged in public.
Do scores change?
Yes, when the evidence or the rules change. Each change is versioned in the changelog, and the app tells you when a product you’ve scanned is rescored.
